《異域鎮魂曲：Tides of Numenera》繼承了《異域鎮魂曲》的精神，是以美國知名專業桌上型角色扮演遊戲設計師 Monte Cook 所設定「Numenera」為基礎，希望能夠創造出豐富的角色扮演經驗，讓玩家探索深度、個人化的主題內容。inXile 創辦人 Brian Fargo 表示，今年繼承《異域鎮魂曲》精神的作品將會成為現實，研發團隊對於此遊戲充滿熱情，因為有機會能夠創造出這款忠於原作的精神與充滿複雜世界的作品，就是當初他們踏進遊戲研發行業所想要的。

遊戲測試版本將會涵蓋介紹的序章（有些之前已經在 Alpha 測試中出現），還有遊戲中第一個主要區域 Sagus， Sagus 設定上是一個非常古老的城市，主要分為五個區域包括懸崖、政府廣場等，玩家可以期望屆時在此區域中發掘豐富的故事，與角色交談與完成任務。
